Where should we launch the balloon?

We need to find a good place to launch the balloon.

It needs to be inflated in a place protected from the wind, otherwise it will bounce around a lot and may be damaged before it is even launched.

Because it is so fragile, it must be launched from somewhere with no possible contact with fences, trees, phone or electric lines.

It would also be good if the site was easy for children from each of the schools to get to.

Do you know of a good place? Why would it make a good launch site?

I think we should launch in a big field then we are out of reach of houses, fences and phone lines.

There's a field not far from Brimscombe school which has a lot of space and it's very flat. .

I think the school field at Meadowside would be great. It is protected by tress from the wind but they are not close enough to cause any problems to the launch.

I agree. We should use meadowside field because all the trees and hedges are around the edge, so theres nothing in the middle.

Good idea. meadowside has a wide space for the balloon to set off and not get caught.

I think we could launch the balloon from near the Winston ice cream factory as there is some shelter there from the wind, its also near my school and the other local schools taking part and there is a lot of space there with no pylons and houses and only a few trees.
