Make a Robot Hand
Let’s make a robot hand! These instructions explain how to construct the hand using string, straws and tape.. The fingers on the hand are closed by a servo pulling the strings. The hand comes with a sensor. It senses how far away an object is from it and converts it into a figure that can be read by the computer. The sensor and servo connect to a computer via an Arduino Uno. A piece of software on the computer called Scratch 4 Arduino allows you to create programs to make the hand sense and react. There are example programs to get started on www.loopycomputy.com Lots of challenges are possible... Can you make the hand follow your hand movements exactly? Can you make it give signals? Can you give it behaviours such as nervous or temperamental!
For example codes, download the file below and save it onto your computer. Open Scratch 4 Arduino, click open and browse to find the file.
