Vending  Machine

Made with one Wedo set, a few of my daughter's marbles and 4 pennies from the piggy bank. Needs to be programmed using Scratch rather than the Wedo software. Lots of possibilities for extensions, you could get Scratch to count the money, you'd be getting involved in data and variables. I just got mine to say thankyou but you could also get the machine to give full instructions....

Here's the Scratch code, but it's much more fun to figure it out for yourself.

The marbles ready to be sold are held in that odd looking tower. The Wedo set doesn't have that many bricks so I had to use whatever bricks were left over to make it.

Here's the mechanism that pushes the marble out. That's a rack and pinion arrangement similar to the type used on mountain railways.

The sensor gives a reading of zero when the coin falls in front of it. I built it without a side so that it wasn't permanently triggered.
